Why is this stage of life so important?
Between the ages of 1.5 and 3, a child undergoes a profound transformation. This is the period when spectacular progress occurs in language, comprehension, coordination, and emotional expression. It is the age when a child becomes a little explorer, with boundless curiosity and an acute need for security, affection, and guidance. If these needs are met appropriately, the child will build a solid foundation for all future stages of development.
The period from 1½ to 3 years of age is a critical stage in a child’s development. At this stage:
- The brain develops at a rapid pace;
- The child develops his or her first social skills;
- Begins to understand and express his or her emotions;
- They are extremely curious and eager to explore the world around them.
This is also when the foundations for long-term learning are laid, and the lack of a suitable environment can slow down or distort natural development.
What does your child need during this time?
The age range from 1½ to 3 years is a unique period in a child's development.
Supporting Cognitive Development
Children in this age group are like “sponges”: they absorb everything they see, hear, and experience. They need activities that stimulate their logical thinking, memory, attention, and language skills. At the Elytis Educational Center, we offer an educational program based on smart play and active learning: stories, role-playing games, sorting exercises, color, shape, and number recognition, group activities, and symbolic play.
At the same time, we respect each child’s pace, adapting the activities so as not to cause frustration and to encourage progress. A child taught with kindness develops curiosity, confidence, and a desire to discover more. Your child will benefit from:
- Stimulation through creative and exploratory activities;
- Practice and routine to reinforce the basics;
- Puzzle games and exercises that develop their critical thinking skills.
Learning mechanisms for emotional expression and regulation
At this age, children experience a wide range of emotions—from excitement to frustration, from fear to intense joy—often without knowing how to manage them. That is why they need empathetic adults who understand and validate their feelings. At our center, our teachers are trained to create a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels accepted, understood, and safe. We help children recognize their emotions and express them appropriately.
Your child will enjoy:
- Care, safety, and a sense of belonging to a community;
- Properly managing emotions (outbursts of anger, frustration);
- Support to help them build their self-confidence.
Socializing with Other Children
Starting at age 1.5, children begin to move beyond the egocentrism typical of early childhood and become interested in others. However, socialization is a process that is learned gradually: how to share toys, how to wait their turn, how to ask for help, or how to resolve conflicts. In the Elytis community, each child is guided step by step in developing these skills.
Through team games, group projects, and daily interactions, they learn what cooperation, respect, and empathy mean. We make sure that every child has a role and feels important within the group by:
- Learning the rules of coexistence;
- Developing empathy;
- The Formation of First Friendships.
Supporting Physical and Motor Development
Young children have a natural need for movement—it is their way of learning, discovering themselves, and interacting with their environment. In addition, the development of motor skills (both fine and gross) is essential for writing, spatial awareness, and independence.
Our program includes daily outdoor physical activities, motor games, dance, light gymnastics, and sensory trails. At the same time, we work with the children on fine motor skills activities—cutting, drawing, painting, and modeling—which help develop their precision and hand-eye coordination.
We offer your child:
- Organized daily exercise: running, jumping, climbing;
- Fine motor skills (drawing, painting, cutting);
- A healthy diet and restful sleep.
Safety and Medical Care
At this age, the immune system is still developing, and minor accidents are common as children explore their surroundings. That is precisely why children’s health and safety are our top priority.
The Elytis Educational Center operates in direct partnership with Elytis Nicolina Hospital, benefiting from rapid, priority access to
a pediatrician and specialized nurses. We monitor the children’s health daily, adhere to strict hygiene protocols, and provide immediate support when needed.
To give you peace of mind as a parent, we promise:
- Careful monitoring of health;
- Prompt response in the event of an accident or illness;
- Prevention and Health Education.
- A balanced diet, tailored to the child's age and needs
Support for Parents
Parents of young children face a number of challenges: a shortage of spots in public preschools, a lack of transparency on the part of some institutions, schedules that don’t align with work hours, and a shortage of qualified staff.
At Elytis, we know that a peaceful family life leads to a well-adjusted child. That’s why we offer an extended schedule from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., open and constant communication with parents, reports on each child’s progress, and regular consultations. We are partners with parents, not just educators.
